About our school

We are a 3 teacher school in the parish of Castlemaine in Co.Kerry. We are located at the beginning of the Dingle peninsula between Castlemaine and Inch. We currently have 73 children in the school. Mr. MacGearailt is the principal. He currently teaches 4th, 5th and 6th. Mr Ryan teaches 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Mrs. Griffin teaches Junior Infants and Senior Infants. We have Interactive Whiteboards and an IPad in each classroom, pupil laptops and also a computer room with 12 desktops. We received our 4th green flag for Transport in June 2014.

We received our second Active (blue) flag for promoting games and physical activity in our school in 2015. The senior room received the Junior Entrepreneur flag in 2013 for setting up and managing their very own mini business. We are also involved in a French programme whereby Mrs. Griffin teaches the older classes French. Due to this we have been able to use Skype to make contact with classes in France.

In June 2014 we were delighted to be awarded the Digital Schools of Distinction Award for promoting the use of ICT within the school.

In June 2014 and 2015 we also received the Discovering Maths and Science Award. We are currently taking part in the Brat Ghaelach and Blue Star programmes.
