About our School
A little bit of history!
Scoil Naomh Gobnait Chaisleán an Droma or Castledrum NS as it’s known as locally is a 5 teacher co-ed Primary School located in the parish of Castlemaine. We are located at the start of the Dingle peninsula. We are nestled between the Sliabh Mish mountains to the North and Castlemaine Harbour to the South. We also have a beautiful panoramic view of the Magillycuddy Reeks and of course Ireland’s highest mountain Carrauntoohill. The school was originally located to the east of the current building (where Keel Community Centre is located). A new school was built in 1969 with 3 classrooms. In 2017 a fourth mainstream classroom was added. In 2021 we moved into our newest classroom. The extra space was a welcome addition to the facilities of the school particularly the new computer room. In September 2023 we began life as a 5 teacher school. Over the years our playground and yard space has expanded to cater for the needs of the school.

We also received the Discovering Maths and Science Award for the last 10 years running, this award is now known as the Curious Minds award. We are also an Amber Flag school which is given to schools for the work completed on Mental Health Awareness and Wellbeing.
